Merilee Fletcher Lighty was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area where she taught Art and English at all levels. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dominican College, San Rafael, California, a Masters of Arts from St. John’s College, Santa Fe, New Mexico and she studied art for a year at San Jose State University in California. Merilee has taken part in many art workshops studying printmaking, watercolor, oil, bronze casting, ceramics etching and drawing.

The work exhibited here is a partial retrospective from the 1980s to the present.

Merilee resides in Carson with her husband, John, and her cat, Folly.
